Charlie Wilson

I first traveled to the Nation's capitol - Washington, D.C. when I was 15. It was the summer after my freshman year in high school. The trip was the BIG band trip. The every 4 year trip which in recent years had been to Disney World. Instead it was D.C. It was fun and the highlight was performing on the steps of the nation's capitol. Rep. Charlie Wilson was a huge part in making that happen. I will always remember that. Meeting him was a joy and in years following I would always tell the story of the little band from Hardin, Texas that traveled to the U.S. Capitol. Ironically an old high school friend posted some pix from our trip a few days ago on facebook. I thought of Charlie Wilson again and the entire wonderful experience. I will always have fond memories of a great moment with wonderful people growing up including my favortite band director Gary Monroe. Years and years later the victories of Charlie Wilson were brought to the big screen in Charlie Wilson's War with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. I again told the story. Sadly Charlie Wilson lost his battle and died today. I will always remember him - BIG TEXAS LEGEND with a heart for the world.

Maria "Lupe" Olmos Hernandez Medical Fund

While I feel for those in Haiti and other places around the world that are in critical need at this time.....I can't help but think of those right here in our homeland, in our area, in our communties that need help. How can we help other citizens of the world without helping our own? Just doing something for our neigbor or their loved ones. ???

A good friend of mine Martha Olmos Traylor's sister Lupe is in need of monetary donations for her constant medical care. A benefit/fundraiser is in the planning for Maria “Lupe” Olmos Hernandez, a former Hardin High School Student. She is a 36 year old wife and mother of 4 wonderful kids. She suffers from Chronic Leukemia and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Her loving family needs aid with her medical bills. There is a medical fund already in place and your donation will help ease the stress of her extensive medical bills.

I will keep everyone posted with details about the benefit. Let's help! We have all had loved ones with chronic illnesses and saw how hard it is and we need to come together to help Lupe. You will be blessed!

Thank You!

Adam Lambert

Ok I'm not going to get all into the arguments over Adam Lambert's AMA performance. All I am going to say is I was a fan of his from the first audition I saw from him on American Idol and always will be. If you did not enjoy his performance on Sunday's AMAs or you just can't see yourself ever being a fan then his music is not meant for you but if you love glamrock or electropop, a singer with a massive voice and star performance skills than you should not give up on him just because of Sunday's performance. Remember a young man Elvis that shook his "pelvis" too much???? Remember when parents told kids Rock and Roll was the devil? Remember when everyone called Madonna sacreligious. Remember when Michael Jackson went from bubble gum and disco pop to a crouch grabbing showstopper. Listen to his music do not judge him on one performance. Critics have proclaimed his debut album the best debut album from an American Idol alumn in history. Please don't judge and give him a chance. This morning on the Early Show (very smart move by CBS to pick it up after ABC dumped him from GMA). Both performances were unbelivably GREAT!

Feeling Creative!

Ok, so I started last week on writing my first book. I've been writing poetry/songs since elementary, short stories since jr. high, and now taking on my first attempt at a book. In an effort to encourage me I am also taking on the task of revamping my favorite short story of mine - one I wrote back in jr. high. I'm thinking if I can get that going and possibly published then I will have encouragement to go through with my book. Also in the mean time still working on my July 1, 2010 project :)

California Dreamin'

So it seems for the 1,000th time my boyfriend and I broke up again (a couple days ago). I have a lot on my plate right now and this doesn't help. But still he makes me smile like no other and I can honestly say he has made me truly happier than any other man has. The main problem seems to be the distance between us right now. He is in San Jose, CA and me in Houston. Well as you saw from my other blog I have a big goal set that I am not yet ready to reveal to the public haha. Today as I played California Dreamin' I realized I was at that point - "California Dreamin'" for several reasons! Life is funny but we only have one! So that's my randomness for today, haha as I play your favorites here at the IRN pass the word about us!!!! http://www.irnradioonline.com Check me out 10am-2pm cst Mon-Fri
